I mentioned before that I switched of clonazapan to trazadone. Well, my restless legs got worse and worse by the day. Finally I literally couldn't sit still at night and had to walk continuously with a terrible feeling that covered my entire body. Restless legs had moved everywhere! I found out later that the real reason things got so bad was that I had stopped clonazapan - an addictive drug - cold turkey. I'd been on it a year. I assume the terrible feelings were withdrawal symptoms and they got worse and worse until it was out of my system. I continued the trazadone at bedtime only and now have very little rls.
So be carefull to taper off on the clonazapan instead of just stopping it. Starting a new med would be fine but if you stop clonazapan abruptly you might think the new one isn't working and is actually making things worse! That's what I thought but I was convinced to hang in there. No fun at all!
