Hello
I just found this forum and thought I would see if others were able to get Lexapro (or other SSRI type meds) to work without it making their RLS worst. I was on Lexapro about a year ago, but at the time I didn't know that I had RLS. I had the "creepy crawling" feeling for years, and didn't put two and two together that the Lexapro made it worst, which it did. I did notice after I stopped that it wasn't as bad, but still I didn't put two and two together that I had RLS. I thought I had a bad ankle combined with some kind of weird circulation problem.
Because of some personal issues my Doctor tried to put me on Effexor about six months ago, and the "creepy crawling" feeling went off the charts. That's how it was identified what I had. They took me off of Effexor, without a replacement. The Doctor did start me on Neurontin (300mg) and it has been great for my RLS, but I was still without something for my depression. A couple of month’s later things got worst and they tried me on Paxil with 300mg of Neurontin that I was already taking, and I had the same issue. I stopped taking the Paxil.I've gone about three months and today the Doctor feels my depression in getting out of hand. So she wants to try Lexapro, and to increase the Neurontin as needed to help with the RLS. I just started with this, and not sure how well it's going to work, but will keep others posted. I would be curious if others have found ways to use anti-depression meds without it exacerbating their RLS. It's very frustrating and my notion is that it's not just a few people with this issue. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks
