I have done quite extensive research on RLS. I found a research study done on the brains of cadavers who had RLS and each was found to have a low iron storage. I was a religeous blood donor for two solid years, during this time the RLS got so bad I couldn't stand it. I also was a heavy tea drinker. I found that the tannin in tea binds with the iron in food making it unabsorbable so even my multi-vitamins weren't enough. I stopped giving blood (as is now suggested for RLS suffers), stopped drinking the iced tea and started taking a vegetarian iron supplement. Two pills a day. In one week I'm lying in bed watching my Sunday evening shows before bed and was amazed that it was 10:00 and my legs weren't going nuts. I thought it was a fluke but it continued for the entire week. I tapered down on the iron supplements and occasionally, after my period I may get the RLS again which is my sign now that I'm low in the iron storage. Look at your eating habits, especially the over indulgences and see if this might be the answer for you! It can't hurt!
