ATTENTION! Some late finds by various researchers.

Actually today it's only one research abstract. I could have included more but it would detract from the importance of this finding.

A study concluded at Bradley University shows that slowly rotating shifts are the best with fixed night shifts being a good alternative. The abstract is available on NAPS, the full article is from the journal Sleep. The rather jaw breaking title "Differential effects of permanent and rotating shift on self-report sleep length: a meta-analytic review." Sleep 2000;23(2):155-63. PILCHER JJ, LAMBERT BJ, HUFFCUTT AI, Department of Psychology, Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois, 61625 USA.

Their analysis was based on 36 primary studies comparing various shiftworkers to permanent day workers. You can find the full abstract on NAPS (New Papers And Abstracts On Sleep). Use their author search to bring it up.
