induce theta sleep for Naval SEAL test

Posted by Ray on July 06, 2000 at 13:56:03:

I am currently a college junior who hopes after graduation to enter the navy and become a SEAL. Part of the requirements in the test (BUD'S) is to endure a Hell week of 5 1/2 days with a combined 4 hrs. total sleep. While I recognize that no true remedy exists to overcome the deprivation bound to occur, I was hoping if anyone could offer insight to the nature of REM and theta sleep and possible methods to optimize their efficacy.
All help, especially studies would be greatly appreciated.
