Can't wake up

Posted by Icthus on July 07, 2000 at 08:59:02:

I just found this sight, and I really hope to find it beneficial. I have a very difficult time getting out of bed, and was wondering if anyone had any advice/cures/solutions. I have always had a hard time getting out of bed, even when I was little. In high school my mom would poor a glass of cold water on me and it got to the point where I would just turn over, without even waking up. I have never had any difficulty getting to sleep, and I have always been a very deep sleeper, I just can't seem to wake up. Now, I work swing shift, which is good, because if I sleep in, I'm still not late for work, but I have to be places very early on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and it's not uncommon for me to be late. Also, I often don't get much done during the week before work. I used to stay up too late, but even after putting an end to that, it hasn't gotten any easier. I could sleep 2 hour or 12, and I would still have great difficulty getting up. Once I'm up and going, I'm fine, but that's only 'if' I get up and going.

I'm considering starting to split my sleep schedule into two 4 hour periods so that it would be the same all week, weekends included, but have been told that this would be very hard on my system. Really, I'm not sure what to do, but I have got to figure out something. Any comments would be appreciated.
