Rotation of 1 month nights, 2 months days - good idea?

I currently work in a hospital lab that has permanent day, evening and night shifts (I'm working nights). We're trying to come up with some ideas to aleviate some of the stain on the night workers. One idea is to make a rotation for night staff involving one month of nights, two months of days. I've been unable to find any information on a rotation of this type (pros or cons). If anyone has any info of comments, they would be greatly appreciated.
