Without knowing the symetry of your manning, the length of shift, or a lot of other details, I can only say that your solution is better than more frequent rotation. Read my posting "ATTENTION etc" posted 6/19/00. It refers to a recent meta- study done at a respected midwestern university.

You might also want to read my postings TOXIC SHIFTS II (4/19/00) and TOXIC SHIFTS III (4/20/00). They are more political in nature in that they call for a change in the Fair Labor Standards Act. However they discuss shift work scheduling that allows greater flexability and allows employee greater freedom as well as dealing with well known social and biological
problems.

I'm preparing TOXIC SHIFTS IV right now. I think you may find it interesting.
