Gene I picked up one of my answers to a query about shift schedule in which only days were involved and the addition of a few slots for the weekends. But designing shifts is an awsome resonsibility. In your case you have set parameters that are asymetric and restricted to eight hour duration and rotational. I don't know if those are set in stone but even if they are there are still many possible "solutions."
Which ones are acceptable has a lot to do with other factors. There are shift work consultants that prowl this forum, a couple I consider pretty good. But for them to be of help they will have to have more facts. Certainly the type of work is an important factor as are the type of shifts now being worked. Also they will probably want to know who is involved in the decision process.
In the meantime you can lay your coverage out in Excell and see how the numbers add up. I don't do this kind of work any more but I'm sure some one will contact you. Good Luck
