Shift work: Long term effects;

Posted by Julius Kovacs on March 08, 2001 at 21:49:33:

Hello;

I work at a truck stop. Being the kind of job that it is, I am required to work 3:45 pm - 12:00 am, Monday through Thursday, and Saturday Sunday 1145pm-8:00am. What I would like to know, is, what can the long term effects be? I am finding it harder to re-adjust after coming off my second night shift, and it is effecting my schoolwork. I find myself taking alot of Gravol or Imovane (usually both - 2 gravol, 1 5Mg Imovane) just to make myself tired at the end of an evening shift, and on weekends, I am fine until about 6:30 am, then I become VERY tired.

I what I am doing safe? Is there any danger mixing Imovane and Gravol? Can working such hours have an adverse effect on my life expectancy?

I would appreciate some help.
