You are spending 12 hours in school. A three to one ratio of homework and study to class accounts for another 36 hours. Your job accounts for about another 40 hours. You flip your work schedule to midnights. You find that you are increasingly dependent on two kinds of drugs to force sleep. Your school work is suffering.
A quick reference to the drugs show that both warn against dependence. One warns against long term use. Both warn against use with any other central nervous system depressant. You can read about the effects of short term sleep deprivation, Dement, Coren and the recent tudies by Eve Van Cauter. While most of their work deals with short term sleep deprivation it's not hard to extrapolate.
As of now your schedule is already messing up your schooling. That alone has long term effects. You can read through the postings here both in forums one and two and discover that complete reversability of long term sleep disturbance is not easily (or probably wholly) reversable.
You are in your mid-twenties already an age not as forgiving as one's teens. You might want to consult with a sleep doc. I advise it. Don't be your own Dr. Mengele.
