Posted by hiro on January 14, 2002 at 17:55:32:I am a 23-year old with two "full-time" jobs. One job is from 10AM-7PM and the other is from 8PM-2AM. I'm trying to minimize my sleep requirements. I HATE sleeping. I think sleep is a waste of time. But yes, I know sleep is required to stay alive. I usually get home at 3AM, and sleep until 10AM, which means I am usually late to my day job. Now that's about 7 hours of sleep. I know the maximum any normal person should sleep is 8 hours, so I guess I'm somewhat normal. However, I want to minimize sleep. I heard that a person only really needs 3 hours a night, and that even some famous Rabbi only slept 2 hours a night. I also heard that Bill Gates only sleeps 3 hours a nite. This is sort of an inspiration to me since I'm in a similar field as he: IT. And so, I ask, does anyone know what is the "safe" minimum per-night, to keep consistent.
Another problem is, I have problems waking up, as I said. Can anyone help me keep sleeping at a minimum and wake up when I set my alarm? I always his snooze or shut-off the clock. Is there some food/drink/pill/technique to better discipline my waking habits? To force myself to wake up at X o'clock? ANy help appreciated.
