Agree with GoodSnooz, you have to drag yourself out of bed after a few hours sleep on your 1st day off, this gets your body to adjust to a normal routine. I have found that your own level of fitness determines how much sleep you need. When I have been unfit, I needed more sleep. Exercise before a shift also helps me feel less tired through the shift
