TVNEWS= no sleep

Posted by Dave on February 06, 2002 at 02:33:06:

I work in TV news as a van tech. This involes being very alert at all times.One mistake can cost lives.I often work the 2am to 6pm shift for weeks at at time.Then my schedule will shift to 12noon to 12 midnight. My average work "week" is 10-14 days straight.Then maybe 1 day off if I'm lucky. Obviously I have trouble sleeping. It takes me 2-3 hours to fall asleep even when I'm tired.The longest I can sleep is 3-4 hours without waking up.Even when I sleep a full (7-8) hours I don't feel even close to rested. My problem Is I have no medical insurance, (great company,huh?) so a doctors visit is unlikely.Any ideas or suggestions are greatly welcome, Dave
