Depending on your drive to/from work, the 9-9 seems awfully late. The worse I have seen in my consulting years is 12-12 or 2-2. Those times are really hard on the employee and his/her family. Most ee's prefer the earlier 7-7 start/stop and the more experienced work crews appreciate the earlier 6-6. Sleeping after getting off at 9pm must be difficult -- I bet you don't get to sleep until midnight or 1, then you wake around 7 or 8 am.
When working nights, I assume you go in at 9pm and work until 9am -- the period from 7am to 9am must be difficult. As the sun comes up, the more sleepy you get. Then when you get home, you can't get to sleep because the sunlight is already directly overhead -- the cycle starts again. Seems your management could use a little education. They must be scheduling around some other event i.e. other shift changes, $ pick-ups, etc. They could stagger your start/stops and at least give you a 6/6 to start with (day 1) and then move it to the 9/9 by the third one (day 3) -- that way, you would follow a forward rotation and it wouldn't be nearly as bad as you think -- especially if it is followed by a set of nights (after your days off).
