Autoworker, do you think you may be staying up too long after you get home from work??? At 11am, this point of the 24-hour circadian rhythm is typically the highest alertness period in the 24-hour day. Also, by staying up, you are heating up your body, gaining doses of sun light -- all affecting the quality of your sleep -- your body is trying to move into a day shift pattern. You may be adding to the problem by staying up and being active vs. sleeping.
There isn't one-fix to this, you will want to look at your exercise/diet patterns, light patterns, nicotine/alcohol/drug usage, mental/physical work requirements, etc. You might try a light carbo snack when you get home from work (cereal/milk), a warm shower/bath, easy listening music or white noise, a cool room and then see if you can try to shift your sleep on nights to begin within an hour or so after you get home from work. Let me know how it goes.
