Can't stay awake/alert on 3rds.

Posted by Sleepyguy on February 22, 2002 at 09:14:38:

I'm new to shift work (2 months). I work from 10PM to 8AM plus an hour drive-time each way and I can't seem to get adjusted to the shift. I work in a NOC and this would be a great opportunity to get my homework done at work leaving more free time to spend with the family. I have no trouble sleeping during the day and my sleep is only limited by the lack of time. I usually get around 6hrs a day and I "sleep until my eyes pop open" on my days off, but I still cannot stay awake/alert throughout the night. Any advice? Does anyone have any experience with ENADA(NADH), Provigil(modafinil), or Melatonin? I'm not a big drugger, but it sure would be nice to be able to utilize the gift of time. Thanks for your help!
