I don't think that it's mean that I put my husband's job into consideration. We have a great relationship and I wouldn't have it any other way. The divorce rate where I work is unbelievable! And I think a lot of it because of spouses being away at night. Plus some spouses who work normal hours just do not understand the graveyard shift. They think you can sleep a few hours and then feel wonderful. My neighbor is also an Auto Worker and his wife is a school teacher. When she gets home at 4:00, she thinks her husband ought to get up and spend time with her. Sometimes it's hard to sleep during the day. Sometimes it's hard to get on a regular sleep schedule. No one understands unless they have worked these awful hours. I've been doing this for over 7 years, and I hate it. About 90% of my co-workers hate it too. We would all like to find a way out, but we have some of the best benefits and pay in the nation. Where I work, they make it hard for you to quit-but, that's only because of the money and the benefits. If you worked there, you would understand. I wouldn't work anywhere else at these hours. It's all about the money.
