am I being ripped off by my employer

I have just gone on to shift work,12hrs 4days on 4 off 4 nights on 4 off. I was working for the same company but from 9 to 5:30 before. Now I have been told my pay is basic plus 30%.This is ok I thought. But overtime and sick are at basic pay this is ok again, but what I want to know is, does the extra 3.5 hrs per day come out of my shift allowance or should they be paying me 3.5 hrs extra at the basic rate.Does this make sence to anyone your thoughts and help would be appreciated. What exactly does shift allowance cover. How do I work out my hourly rate if I'm jumping from basic to allowance all the time?
