Shift Roster Software

Posted by Martin on August 09, 2002 at 22:59:28:

Hi.

I work in the power industry. We currently work a 12 hour roster which consists of 2 days, 1 off, 2 nights, 4 off, repeating. Start/finish time(s) is 7 o'clock.

On a calendar it appears as such:

Mon: Day
Tue: Day
Wed: -
Thu: Night (finish 7am Thu morning)
Fri: Night (finish 7am Fri morning)
Sat: -
Sun: -
Mon: -
Tue: -
Wed: Day
and so on.

We want to move from an Excel and largely paper based system to something that will allow the roster administration people to enter in the names of peoples and the shifts that they work, and then have it print out the rosters for hanging on the notice board.

When someone rings in sick, or has to change a shift and extra cover is required, we then have to start ringing people up at home to see if they're available to work overtime, say that night. It means taking the roster off the wall and scanning it to see who's available, then ringing them up, after searching the phonebook for their numbers.

We'd like to be able to bring the program up and click on a button to see who's available to work that night or the next day or whatever and then display their contact details.

Does anyone know of anything like this? It needs to run under a corporate LAN, Windows 2000 network and be able to be modified by authorised people, with the ability for anyone to view and print out rosters, whether they be workforce-wide or personal.

Thanks
