I am a 45 year old female who has a difficulty sleeping causing considerable difficulty within my personal and professional life. I am searching for any approach to modifying my sleeping difficulty.
I have DSPS complicated by the following: I am usually unable to sleep for more than six hours maximum. Once weekly, I am unable to sleep any whatsoever. Biweekly I am unable to sleep for two consecutive days. Once monthly, I am unable to sleep for three consecutive days. Twice annually, I am unable to sleep for four consecutive days.
I do not smoke, have never used alcohol or drugs in any form. I am a very active Equine Professional who normally rides or competes in excess of twelve hours each day, seven days per week. In other words, I physically work very hard and don't really understand why, when so physically exhausted, I cannot fall asleep.
I have maintained this disorder since puberty and appear to be getting worse rather than better. I have tried light therapy in two different forms without success. I have a good marriage and a successful business so I don't think depression is the underlying cause. Heck, I hope not!
Is there anything you could offer or any place you would recommend I should seek assistance? I am located one hour outside of Nashville, TN. and willing to drive or participate in any trial to overcome this increasingly difficult issue.Sincerely,
Elanna
