This is an e-mail i got explaining the shift pattern for a job i applied for :-

Shift pattern is 12 hour shifts by rotation over 14 days. You always get at least 2 days per week off and get 2 weekends in every 3 off, but work the other one. Over 3 cycles of 42 days you generally would work 24 shifts. This equates to about a 48 hour week.
