Okay - DH works a rotating 2x 12 hr days, 2 X 12 hr nights followed by 4 days off. It is definitely a lifestyle choice for us, and he has been doing it for years. For about 6 weeks out of every 4 months they do 4 x 12 hr days, then 4 days off.

When he gets back to doing night shifts, his temper is terrible! Very frustrating, as I am an at home Mum to 4yo, 2yo & 8 mth old - so I have my own stuff to deal with. To all those shiftworkers out there, what can you tell me, to help me deal with his temper? The short fuse, things he would usually joke along with suddenly become arguments. It is such a change after the 6 weeks of day work, that it is hard not to take it personally - how much is a loving wife supposed to tolerate? Shift work may be hard for the individual, but it is hard for the family too.
