You cannot do eight or ten hour shifts and cover 24/7 with only four people. The math is not there....four people=40 hours a week per person so that is 160 hours. There is 168 hours in one week. The same rule applies to 10 hour shifts. Four 10's=40 x 4=160. The minimum coverage for 24/7 is four people working 12's.
If you are working the stardard 12-hour schedule everyone should have every other weekend off.
Depending on the nature of your work why don't you look at the 7 days on 7 days off option? You could work four 11's and three 12's and then be off seven days.
