Beware! Daylight Savings Time

Don't let this happen to you
Accidents on the Rise

Studies have shown that when we move to daylight saving time automobile accidents increase 7-8% due to our decrease in alertness. Why? When we move our clocks forward in the Spring we end up having to get up a hour earlier and in most cases until we adjust to the time change we will loose a hour of sleep a day. The problem is it is difficult to go to sleep earlier than your normal bedtime. So the question is how can we make this adjustment as quickly as possible to get back to normal. First avoid bright light and caffeine late in the evening which will help you get to sleep earlier. However the most important thing to do is get bright light when you first get up in the morning. If possible go outside and spend some time in the sunlight. This will help adjust your circadian clock to the new time quickly.
