A PHARMACISTS WORST NIGHTMAREI am a 56 year old pharmacist who developed sleep apnea after gaining weight after moving to Florida in 1988. What happened next can only be described as an unbelievable cascade of events one would think could not happen, but I am proof it does. I have seen far less sensational stories on 60 Minutes and other programs. Anyway, I was not aware of the condition, since I have always had a bit of difficultty sleeping and dozing off while driving. It was getting worse and I was dozing while working. I would occasionally fall asleep during a lull at slow stores. One day my agent- I work relief and at many different locations-called and said he was concerned about me and I needed to go to PRN-Physicians Recovery Network, an agency that deals with impaired professionals with the purpose of succesfully treating and returning to productivity those who are impaired by alcohol or substance abuse.
