It depends on your Medical Director and the Dr ordering/interpreting your test. UAR is different,but still can be treated with CPAP. However, it is not our position, unless deamed so by the MD that this is true. Medicare has very specific Hypopnea standards, including a 30% drop in either airflow, or chest/abdominal effort, coupled with a 4% desat from baseline. This is almost verbatim. An arousal is not mentioned at all, although us good sleep people know this is the root of all evil:):)
I disagree about taking the pillows out, you should add a pillow if you want to make them worse, take a pillow out to improve the obstructive component(same theory as CPR, ABC)
As Non-Physician Sleep Professionals it all depends on what your Medical Director has said to do.
