Depends on where you're looking, but some medical experience is much better than none. If there aren't any Sleep programs close by, you'll find alot more on-the-job trainees. The lab that I work in has a wide range of backgrounds - from former RRT's & EEG techs to hospital clerks, XRay Techs and Medical Assistants.
