What you're finding isn't secrecy, just disorganization. Unlike many other health fields, PSG people come from many disciplines. Some are Respiratory Therapists, or EEG Technologists, or Nurses, among others. There is no one clearly definable way for one to become a PSG technologist. Some are being paid at the salary level from the area they came, and have in essence two job titles, or more in some cases; EEG/PSG, RCP/PSG, etc... There has been no movement to standardize this, at least to my knowledge since we started doing clinical PSG testing.
Salary information outside the APT would have to be pieced together from all these outside sources.
ASET for EEG does a salary survey, and I'm sure the RCP's have one as well, but unless you're a member of their organization, you still might have to pay for the data.
