I passed June 2001. I got a raise of 2.00 per hour. I then looked around and found there were many, many Labs willing to pay me even more than my new hourly rate. I looked around very carefully, and chose a Lab that pays me approximately 5.00 more per hour than my old job, even after the 2.00 per hour raise. My point it, we RPsgT's must fight for excellent pay. There are less than, what? - 5,000 of us? When I passed my boards, I told my Manager exactly that - that we're a rare find and even non-registered techs with experience are a rare find and that I wanted a 2.00 an hour raise. We must not allow anyone to ever give us zero raise after passing. Politely, but firmly tell them why you're valuable, how rare RPsgt's are and how difficult it is to find experienced people and be ready to quote what other Labs pay RPsgt's and tell them you love working there and would very much like to continue doing so, but now that you are an RPsgt you feel a raise of XXXX amount is appropriate. Always name a figure higher than what you actually want. Like if you want 2.00 more, tell them 3.00 or 2.50. If they will not give you a raise, take your time, look around, and when you locate a Lab willing to pay you what you're worth and you feel you'd be a good fit there - quit the old Lab. We must do this, for all for us. Read the www.advancefor sleep.com salary survey when they're finished with it and expect to be paid accordingly. RPSGT's should be making MINIMALLY 2.00 an hour more than non-registered.
