Trust me, Chicago area is overflowing with sleep tech jobs, I live here, too.
Last I checked, Northwestern Hospital, University of Chicago Hospital, Loyola University Hospital,Children's Memorial Hospital, Rush St. Luke's Presbyterian, (all the former in Chicago) Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, were ALL looking for techs, as well as The Center for Sleep in Naperville, IL
There are tons of jobs in Chicagoland area. Yesterday in the Chicago Tribune I saw an ad in the job section for a place called SleepMed looking for Sleep Techs. Always check Chicago Trib., www.medhunters.com. and also look at the Hospital websites, such as Resurrection Healthcare (I think it's www.reshealth.org) and also the Advocate healthcare website (they have a Sleep Lab at Good Sam's in Downer's Grove, IL) and RUSH Healthcare website. Also Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL has a Sleep Lab and they're looking for a Lead tech. I hope this is enough for you to pursue a career in this area. Tust me, there is no shortage of jobs for a sleep tech. In Chicago, I make 22.50 in one Lab full time, plus 1.50 night differential, making 24.00 an hour. In a Registry position, I make 21.01 an hour plus 3.00 an hour night differential, making 24.01 an hour. I know Children's Memorial will start an RPsgT off at about 23.00 an hour PLUS night diff. The Lab in Naperville pays about 22.00 for RPSGT and 19-20 per hour for experienced non-registered Techs. They also have trained staff on the job with no prior experience starting at about 15 an hour and increase your pay over time as you train. The Lab in Naperville is getting ready to expand and open one in Plainfield, IL and one in Chicago. If you wanted to contact them , call 411 and ask for The Center for Sleep in Naperville, IL
HOpe this helps.
Me, RPsgt
