I know your complaint seems frustrating, but its miniscule compared to what other techs have to put up with. Supervisors hiding educational material, only inviting "favorite" employees to seminars, not informing certain techs that education time on a certain date "will" be paid for...others get paid-you don't unless you can get someone to admit they got paid, informing all techs in a group meeting how the hospital cannot pay for education seminars and then the day of the seminar techs are not present and accounted for--they are at the hospital paid educational seminar. Supervisor makes you work all 10 hr shifts 4 nights/week and gives friend all 12 hr. shifts 3 nights a week. You cannot take weekend call for EEG if you are not present on friday morning (taking spouse to appointment)as the rules go, but supervisor's friend can be out all day and gets to take call for EEG-no problem. You are harassed/threatened for occasionally working a night at another sleep lab,. Supervisor's friend frequently takes off at 2pm to score sleep at another lab. You have to do all pediatric EEGs. Supervisor's friend sits on couch in lab and watches "The Price Is Right", Soaps and talks on phone with friends. You are told not to call anyone unless its an Emergency. Supervisors friends talk hours a night/day long distance to friends on hospital phone system. Supervisor takes tech friends to restaurants in evenings to be friendly with DMEs. They are on the clock the entire time, getting drunk. Supervisor comes in on call for EEG reeking of alcohol and misses work alot. Thankfully. Employee turnover is high, excluding supervisor's friends. Supervisor was hired due to being best friends with manager. Manager lets supervisor get away with anything and everything. Supervisor acquires cash bonuses for friends but you get nothing. The friends are watching TV all day, you are working very hard. I could go on and on.
I left that place and now have a wonderful job where none of that happens.
Last but not least, you have to pay your own way to the seminars and the supervisor and friends attended the first day, were up all night getting drunk and did not attend any other classes. Hospital paid for their entire trip. They come back from seminars and cannot or will not tell the other techs what they have learned.
Venting past memories.
Thank you God for the different job I have now and the great fellow techs and doctors that making coming to work worthwhile.
