In North Idaho, we are barely keeping up with demand. We are shceduled out 6-8 weeks. We've expanded our two-bed operation to 7 days a week. We have submitted a proposal to our admin. to expand to 4-beds in the near future.
I would start by doing some basic marketing and community education. The apnea patients are out there, you just have to help the family practice doc's to recognize them.
Some easy ways to market
1)Distibuting AASM literature pamphlets into family practices.
2)Host "open-house" in the sleep lab.
3)Conduct a CME In-service for your doc's on "How to recognize and treat O.S.A. patients".
4)Call your local radio/TV station. Discuss community health impact of drowsy drivers and workers.
Hope this helps a little.
