In my lab, a tech can score while in acquisition, but only while monitoring one patient. There is a practical reason for this (available monitor), but mostly because I am very much opposed to scoring while acquiring two studies. In my opinion, the technologist has too much to attend to if they are closely monitoring their studies to sleep stage and score respiratory events. I was forced to score (on paper no less) while acquiring two studies at a previous job, so I insisted that my objections be acknowledged in writing as a release from liability should a patient code while I was counting RERAs. My employer was suddenly less enthusiastic.
