If the overnight PSG is questionable at all, the decision isn't made by the techs where I work. Our medical director comes in and reviews the study and makes the decision after carefully looking at the study and history and physical. There have been a few times where we will call him at home if the study is clearly negative for apneas, hypopneas, snoring, leg movements, frequent arousals, etc... and he will give a verbal order to keep the patient.
