I don't know of any desaturation criteria for apneas, whether they are central or obstructive. Cheynes-Stokes is just the on and off pattern of breathing, often associated with heart desease. You might want to look very closely at the last breath or two before breathing starts, to make sure that there isn't an obstructive component to these events. Some patients have a repetative pattern like C-S but the events terminate in obstruction which causes arousals and the next central event. CPAP often works well in this case.
