We have had numerous instances of people not being tolerant of CPAP of of the masks. We have made arrangements w/ a DME co. to provide us w/ CPAPs set @ 3 cm/H2O and we send the patient home with these and instruct them to use them for a couple of hours a day gradually increasing time until they are sleeping with it each night for a week. We then bring them back into the lab for a full titration.

I don't know exactly what setting you are in, but this may be one option to help w/ desensitization.
