what it means is that the payment actually goes up by 79%, depending upon the actual RVU (relative value units) amount. A RVU is like converting dollars to peso's. A RVU is basically a set amount that doctors get paid that designates how much time and expense they have for any given procedure. It's kind of like a productivity formula, so a PSG would be worth more than a office visit....
Each part of the country, and various physician specialties get more $ per RVU than others, then you multiply RVU's per procedure x the $ amount per RVU and that is the $ you get...
I wonder what the "typical" RVU dollar amount isright now, so we can figure out what the payment is?
