Posted by Sleepy on July 02, 2002 at 11:23:07:Does anyone in a free standing facility distribute these meds for patients having problems sleeping? Our physicians write an order and the medication is in a sealed envelope with the name on the outside and instructions. The tech hands the envelope to the patient. This has been cleared by our main house since we are ambulatory but I was just wondering what anyone else is doing or if they have a protocol that works. I would just like for the physiican to write the script and the patient be responsible for bringing in their own medication. But with reimbursement at times only allowing one study per lifetime and 80% of our patients have short term memory problems do we take the chance on that person not sleeping? Any suggestions?
