Ha! That's funny RPSGT....the single wire on the thermistor! Kind of reminds me of the time I was in school and went to plug my patient's headbox into the cable and couldn't figure out why I was getting only 60Hz on the readout....I had plugged my patient into the bed!
(That was long ago...I'm much keener now-HA!)
