I think a solution to your bed issue is an air mattress.

A sleep lab I worked for previously used air mattresses made by Select Comfort and I would say that at least 95%+ of the patients were very satisfied with the comfort of the mattress and how well they slept on it.

The really nice thing about air mattresses is the patient can adjust how stiff or soft of mattress they wanted. Also, people with chronic back pain woke up feeling less discomfort because of the excellent overall body support these beds provide as compared to a convential mattress.

For the few that didn't like it, their complaint was they couldn't get the mattress soft enough to their liking (and these people were litterly sinking into the mattress to the point they were the shape of a horseshoe!).

Good Luck!
