One should try to get testing on a patient's normal schedule, yes. However, watching television in bed is a direct contravention of the Sleep Hygiene rules.
Try this scenario:
"Hey doctor, I go to bed at 11pm, watch the local news until 1130 then fall asleep sometime during Jay Leno and get up at 0600 to get ready for work, why am I tired?"
Is this a candidate for a PSG ASAP or one who should get their sleep hygiene appropriate before wasting their time and their insurance company's money?
