Widely-accepted Medicare guidelines require two hours of diagnostic TST (Total Sleep Time) , and 6 hours test time/ TIB (Time in Bed). The 2 hours can be pre-Split or for the whole test. Some people who aren't able to sleep well in the sleep lab environment may sleep enough that their problem can be diagnosed without putting them through a second night of torture!
