I admit I don't know, only what those who try home studies say: It takes real skill and ability to set it up and keep up the quality. I fear it would be used loosly and not with good quality controls---just like in some facility based labs. The accrediting people need to get people like you who know how to do it correctly to set the standards. As for auto pap, there are various systems each having it's strength or weakness. I have seen patients who have had auto pap and it missed. CPAP titration is a black art and often difficult in the best hands even in aan attended lab. I know of a DME company that goes to PCP practices and gives a package deal--auto pap with the referring doc "reading it" for a fee and then they sell a machine to the patient--usually for a cash price. Maybe this is better than nothing but again there needs to be standards and quality controll. I don't know if there are enough practitioners like you to do this yet. I would have to defer to your expertise. In our area it isn't going to well now.
