Right.
It isn't that it cannot be done correctly. Afterall, most patients who have a PSG to R/O OSA, when ordered by a Boarded Sleep Doc usually have OSA. With those who know what they are doing and have good enough equipment, this will open more patients to being tested faster. However, here in "the states" there is always the spectre of people who want to only do things for money, not to help people. There are unscrupulous characters who would throw an old Edentrace on patients, charge for a full, portable PSG; then provide and charge for a CPAP machine, no matter what the testing showed; they would do this until they had milked the local economy and felt the authorities making inquiries.
We have all heard these tales, they are the ones we remember, not the ones about the physician who can see patients faster and treat them better because he/she understands how to best utilize portable testing in the correct patients and provide an economical solution for their sleep maladies.
