I have stated this before but it seems that those who have gotten into this feild via a degree are above all of us who have worked hard and learned by on the job training. I have worked with both and I don't see that there is a big difference. I know just as much as those that have a degree when it comes to the sleep field. I am not saying that education is a bad thing but it doesn't give you the right to say that those of us that don't have formal education are any less knowledgeable in sleep as you. I studied for my boards and passed and have worked hard for that. What is wrong with giving people a chance to grow in a new field. I understand that it is done wrongly alot but i don't understand why there are states that think that a respitory therapist knows more than an RPSGT when it comes to sleep. I really like the law in Idaho right now. You have to hold a permit as a trainee for awhile and can only work undersupervision. You then have to apply for a technician permit. You can only renew your technician permit three times before you have to get a technologist permit which requires you to be a RPSGT. So I don't see the problem in regulating it this way so that you are weeding out those who are not making the effort to learn!
