Yes, bob, when ordered by an experienced and informed clinician the portable screening tests or even moving straight to the self titrating machines would lessen the burden placed on sleep centers and reduce wait times for those who have a confusing sleep problem, narcolepsy vs. nocturnal seizure disorder for example.

The most important part here is the ordering clinician. I believe that, once licensed, physicians can do/order anything that does not have a specific further licensing requirement. Dermatologists can order and read EEGs if they wish. Not all physicians are in medicine to help people, some just want to make a lot of money.

Skilled and experienced physicians can use the proper tools for diagnosing and treating patients quickly and effectively and, yes, these tools have been around for years, but there is no reimbursement that makes it worthwhile, even those who want to help people need to make money.
