Medicare's new guidelines state that a patient must have 2 hours of sleep time (not just in bed time) before the treatment portion of the split night study can begin. They have also ruled out the use of the term "RDI" opting instead for "AHI". They said that only apneas and hypopneas should be included in the respiratory distress index, thus the reason for the terminology change.
