MoonDog,
What if you write a policy to review tests annually if they have not been tested in the last five years and if they have not been seen in a follow-up appointment with a sleep physician, your clerical staff will place a phone call to see if they would like to be seen by the physician? All patients on CPAP should be seen in annual follow-ups so the sleep doc can ascertain their status and any need to change what they are doing or are on (CPAP). At these follow ups the issue of needs for re-testing would be addressed.
It should not be up to the technical/clinical staff to decide to test someone, that requires an order from a physician. Taken to the extreme, if you re-test everyone every five years, what happens when they move or die? What level of responsibility do you have then?
