Posted by Pam on September 19, 1997 at 03:21:38:Our 7 year old has developed the fear that he will not be able to fall asleep. He begins to worry about this as early as mid afternoon at times. He gets himself in such a uproar that he cannot control the crying and screaming. We have tried everything - putting him in bed later, taking the bunk beds apart so that he is no longer on top, laying with him until he falls asleep, or laying with his brother until he falls asleep. We have now resorted to, not that we mind, reading to him until he falls asleep. If we stop before he is completely asleep, he will begin to get upset and thus we continue reading. There is nothing tramatic that would have triggered this to our knowledge. He does not have nightmares, that we know of. We are open for suggestions. Thanks.
